Tried Love (2012)

You may hate me for my honesty
It’s better that than despised a liar.
Oh, but I bet the truth is you need me.
Don’t you miss the love we brewed?
Alas I dream of it, everlasting
The passion between me and you
Don’t you long for my loving touch?
I laugh, I deluded myself so
We know you don’t miss it that much
If you did you’d beg for me
You’d call out my name, a prayer
I just got to face it, you don’t care
Yeah you hated my honesty, my agony
Let’s be real it’s how this goes
Face we aren’t who we thought we’d be
Our love fell through admit it
I tell myself, my heart in pure denial
Yeah this love fell and failed the trial

Sad Eyed Girl

By Damien Knight I was up last night In a waking dream I don’t know what’s right I’m lost it seems I see a face A sad eyed girl I can see the trace Tears that swirl Down her cheek Crying for the memory She feels weak Blinded unable to see And that is the way It has always been What can I say To make amends I can say nothing To gain forgiveness I can say nothing To end this For I had dug too deep…

Sad Eyed Girl

By Damien Knight

I was up last night
In a waking dream
I don’t know what’s right
I’m lost it seems
I see a face
A sad eyed girl
I can see the trace
Tears that swirl
Down her cheek
Crying for the memory
She feels weak
Blinded unable to see
And that is the way
It has always been
What can I say
To make amends
I can say nothing
To gain forgiveness
I can say nothing
To end this
For I had dug too deep
Into the grave
And she will weep
For her life she gave

On The Mend

By Damien Knight

Deep down in my heart of hearts
Where fire burns, at least in part
Lives a ghost a remnant
Of something yet imminent
And as time heals all hurts
I watch I’m so unsure
And the silence is deafening
As elfin voices softly sing
Out across the valley of lost hope
And I sit and cry and mope
About a love that has died
But now the last tear I’ve cried
And so, I wish for sorrows end
As my heart is on the mend

Most Missed

By Damien Knight

We could never see
The world the same way
With swirling skies
And stars that sway
What lonely people
On those French streets
Judging you mad
As you sit in your seat
Painting a new dream
The world miles away
Tortured inside, torn
You plead and pray
But know that the world
Wasn’t ready for your gift
But Vincent I know
You are the one most missed

Love of My Own

By Damien Knight

A warrior is heartless
Not in need of love
We only fight for glory
And the taste of men’s blood
We need no one near us
We desire no affections
Yet even deep inside us
We fear rejection
We claim love a fantasy
Swear it a dream
But even I need it
Or so it seems
The loss of many women
The scars upon my soul
The death of many lovers
Has finally taken its toll
And perhaps I needn’t anyone
Perhaps I can be alone
But how then shall I battle
If there isn’t a love to call my own
