Damien! An Acrostic Poem

By Damien Knight

Dinosaurs are my passion,
Archaeology my second .
Music is my breath.
Intelligence alludes me
Eager to learn more,
Never quite sure.

Soaring, call me Raven,
Koraki, the black bird.
Youthful despite my age,
Enthusiastic with love.

King of his own castle.
Never means to let you down.
Is loyal to a fault.
Generous beyond belief.
Humble, shy, but not meek.
That’s who I am.

Inspiration

By Damien Knight

Is inspiration a trifle thing
To plea the raven sing?
What verse will he give?
When he simply fights to live.

Her love a caress against skin
Reeling him back in.
He longs for her like water,
How he misses the moon’s daughter.

Aniya, see how Koraki aches?
How his poor heart breaks.
I promised I’d never leave,
It is you that lets me breathe.

Raven

By Damien Knight

As I walk amongst the woods
I hear a voice not understood
A crowing sound so deep
Into my very soul it seeps
Around me so dark
The crowing raven’s feathers stark
Fall upon my gentle flesh
His grace traps me like mesh
I smile at the dark bird
And back away without a word

Around me so dark
The crowing raven’s feathers stark
