Slayed Poetry

I have lost my sense of poetry,
My muse dashed the hopes I’d held.
I have healed some of the hurt
I allowed myself to be so exposed.
I let them rush in fast at me.
Talking every minute, every day
With someone for as long as I had.
I lost some of myself with them.
I took on a role too, I was king
Mr. In charge and she said yes sir
That’s how it went, heaven forbid
I fail to be in charge or fallible.
Each mistake I lost their respect
Ultimately lost them, though granted
With all women I have dated
It was I who ended it.

Being without her was hard.
It was being without the tides
but it made me think on things
On the uselessness of romanticism.
Aniya no doubt feels my wall.
The hesitancy I have in every step.
I love myself, that could be enough
but her love meant everything.
I have lost my muse.
No flowery poems of devotion
Flowing from my pen.
Words to be thrown away so easily?
How I envy simplicity
Almost wish I wasn’t an author,
A poet now.
Does she even care that I can’t

I Want Your Darkness (2012)

By Damien Knight

I want a taste of darkness
Darkness of you on my lips
Lips luscious I desire
I desire to hide in depths
Depths of your mysterious ways
Ways dark, shadowy, and black
Black as the night I hide shielded
Shielded temporarily from light
Light that I might appreciate
Appreciate when I reemerge
Reemerge to see your sun
Your delightful sun once more

Dream of Her Love (Nov 2012)

By Damien Knight

I the Shadow need her light
That the darkness can fill
To be at her side tonight
Even far away from me
Lay myself out on my bed
The scent of roses waft
Thoughts longing in my head
Oh beloved I need her
Close my eyes, adventure dream
There my love is beside me
Hope sprung forth like a stream
A prince to be her king
So lay with me tonight
She will close her eyes & dream
Feel me hold her tight
My love is for her always

On Fire

By Damien Knight

Today Raven sings, heart on fire
I feel her love burning inside me
I am burning with unquenchable desire
Is she the one to set my heart free

She’s real, A physical manifestation
Of every daydream I ever conceived
She fulfills my imagination
Her affections the best I’ve received

Lady of Shadows, in darkness I pray
I swear I found an angel in heaven
Please let her be mine, let her stay
And perhaps this old crow be forgiven

Heartbroken Dreams

By Damien Knight

I fade away into my sheets
My fragile heart clenched to chest
I dispair, Aniya, we’ll never meet
Tonight the raven must rest

I will lay against tear stained pillows
Her name a ghost upon my lips
Never got the dream of hello
Nor did I feel her finger tips

Mother says be patient my boy
And perhaps I should, but Aniya I ache!
And I despise feeling like a toy
It’s my fault I feel such heartbreak

This crow sleeps with prayer on his tongue
That she still wants him around
But I’m to blame I said I was done
But she’s the best love I’ve ever found!

Live Life

By Damien Knight

I live my life filled with adventure
Rock climbing, travel, and surf
What does it matter, I dont have her?
I long to climb cliffs, her with me
To show her the falls of the Ohio,
To sit in theatre watching Dracula.
To enjoy the arts and outdoors,
Simply display my skill with spatula.
Life is amazing every day!
Fossil hunting with my children
Daughter sings, son builds displays.
When day is done and class complete,
I come home turn on reality T.V.
My guitar sits in a corner ready.
I turn on my laptop and write
This all is part of life for me.
I have all I could ever ask for,
Perfect kids, cats, dogs and house.
Still my Princess Aniya who I adore,
Not with me, she’s what’s missing.

The Bard

By Damien Knight

Why? What keeps bringing you to me?
I a lonely soul, dark, filled with agony.
It is true I am a romantic spirit,
Love, passion, lust, I dont fear it.
I write and spill my heart on page
Reciting verse like bard on stage.
Your constant presence new inspiration,
Inside the love of poetic creation.
It’s not me you see but he
My poetry evoking heart makes me happy.

Long Distance

By Damien Knight

Not every line is a story true,
Nor every verse a page for you.
My darling knows this heart of mine
She sees my pain and she’s divine.
I ache for her in true agony
I pleaded she reach for me.
In response she says “Yes sir.”
And instantly I’m there for her.
But true we have yet to meet,
So take a moment, have a seat.
She lives a rainy Washington city
While I live in lonely Kentucky.
I’ll love her ’til my dying day
For that is my way.
