Baby Sitter’s Club
Daycare: Learning to write my name.
Fourth-Grade Book Report
I think it was my step-mom who first taught me to love reading. She would give me Mother Goose books and I would read those. She also kept Baby Sitter’s Club books on her shelves. I loved reading the letters at the start of the chapters. My step-mom was also the daycare lady, we used to use shaving cream to write our names and draw in.
When I was in the 1st grade I had a sub named Ms. Fisher. She ended up taking over for our teacher, a whole year. The original teacher had a kid. I warned Ms. Fisher I bite teachers I don’t like. She was patient and kind and turned out great.
From the time I was in 1st until 3rd my dad would read from my blue Bible every night. He would read Psalms at my request. My parents encouraged reading and writing. My teachers also encouraged reading. Mrs. Denny would read Roald Dahl and Ramona Quimby age 8 books to the class. Ms. Hutchinson my fourth-grade teacher assigned book reports. I did Nancy Drew. I grew up loving to read and write.
Another Eng 101 writing assignment. The list above was that “prewriting” our TA was trying to get us to do. Ok I was 20 and a bit of an arse but I felt our TA was dumb and I still feel that way.
