Troubled Water (Dec 2011)

By Damien Knight

The foreboding in my heart
Pierces the soul like dark water
The warnings, bad omens make me falter
If I am to suffer from the start
This deep impending sorrow
Leads a prayerless man to pray
So take my hands, now heads and stay
That we might seek a better tomorrow
Yes I know she is at my side
The lady of shadows I her king
She prays and makes my heart sing
Even in troubled water her light my guide

Koraki Dreams: The Girl in the Fire Place

By Damien Knight

I will preface this by stating that this was a dream I had. It is obviously a warped version of the Doctor Who episode “The Girl in the Fire Place.” During the dream it took me a bit to realise this.

Koraki stood at the top of the stairs of a Victorian ballroom. The ballroom walls were lined with mirrors where he felt certain Victorian art ought to be. He, himself, was dressed in a fine suit with a tie.

Nightmares

By Damien Knight

The dawn of the morning light
Peeks through my window clear.
I dreamt through the night
Vivid dreams of war my dear.
I wake throat sore body shaken
Aniya! If I could cry out
Where are you, am I mistaken?
The bodies strewn about
But I have never been to war
Not this life time anyway.
Yet I awake cold and unsure
If my mind is clear to face day

Sleep Paralysis

By Damien Knight Drifting, eyes closed on the edge Frozen to my bed, clinging the weight on my chest the sound of bells ringing Drifting, voices in my head Suffocating, try to scream my voice empty, dead fear owns me now And I try to fall asleep Or wake from this awful thing but I can’t move, breathe I feel the sleep demons sting I pray, the voices mock This cage, is my body my brain is the lock…

Sleep Paralysis

By Damien Knight

Drifting, eyes closed on the edge
Frozen to my bed, clinging
the weight on my chest
the sound of bells ringing
Drifting, voices in my head
Suffocating, try to scream
my voice empty, dead
fear owns me now
And I try to fall asleep
Or wake from this awful thing
but I can’t move, breathe
I feel the sleep demons sting
I pray, the voices mock
This cage, is my body
my brain is the lock
sleep paralysis
