Rebellious as Mulan

By Damien Knight

You were always a fighter
Standing against the crowd
A warrior’s daughter
You stood strong and proud
A princess, noble in stature
You fought against your birth
A soldier, your father’s armour
Stolen to make your worth
The scales of a dragon
Coat over your skin, chainmail
Fire will in your belly
Fierce compassion you set sail
The armies will fall
As I had for you that night
Take your own path
Show the world your might
