Won’t Forget

By Damien Knight

Like a shade I see you waiting
How can I ignore the misty vision
Your voice light an airy a song
I unable to respond the way you need
How is it somewhere she dances
While I sit alone with nothing
I must be the king of disappointment
Mortals the experts at heartbreak
I wonder how many tears you shed
Your pain is mine to bare
Say you’ll forget and maybe so
But I hold on because I see her there
Swallowed by sky, surrounded by mist
I see the mountains I won’t forget
