Ann

By Damien Knight

I dreamt of you wishing for your heart dear

But you denied me my soul desire

being elusive with a gaze austere

I climb mountains for you going higher

Kept out of reach of your love like a drought

I yearned desperately to find beauty

I loved you most when we along side fought

Hard battles of the past was our duty

Now I whisper your name like a prayer

Where did you go was it a fever dream

Did I not deserve such a beauty fair?

A woman the people hold high esteem

I will not rest until I found my Ann

Hold her close and forever be her man
